| Escape to Cloud Nine was a Guinness World Record attempt performed by Scott Hammell. Scott went up to an altitude of over 7 200 feet in a hot air balloon and was suspended by his ankles. Hanging upside-down, he released himself from a regulation straight jacket and over 50 feet of steel chain secured with four pad locks. All of that and he is afraid of heights
This escape was seen
internationally on the popular television
show “Ripley’s Believe it
or Not” and led to several other
television appearances. This also gave
Scott the story he needed to break into
the motivational speaking circuit.
